Lead Time
Most of our furniture is in stock. The lead time provided is an estimate based on our own experience and we will endeavour to deliver the goods to you within 21 working days, within the UK. However, we will not be responsible for unexpected manufacturing or transport delays or any losses, costs, damages or charges you may suffer if we delay, or fail, in supplying you. At the point of delivery you will be required to sign for acceptance of the goods and thereby take full procession and sole responsibility for them.
Delivery Notification
In most cases we deliver the furniture ourselves, and need to be sure that you will be in when we arrive, Therefore, we will e-mail you 3-4 days prior to delivery to confirm the delivery date, we may be able to give you a rough idea of the likely delivery time the day before we deliver (for example, early morning from 6am or late evening up to 10pm) although this may be inaccurate due to factors beyond our control - for example traffic or weather conditions.
We will also call you when we are approximately an hour away, therefore please ensure that we have all telephone numbers that might be useful for contacting you on the delivery day. If we are not able to speak to you when we are an hour away WE WILL NOT DELIVER THAT DAY and delivery may be delayed by a week or more. This is to keep delivery costs to a minimum.
Someone must be available to sign for the goods during normal working hours and this person should be known to you. We will not be responsible where the person signing for the goods is not the person who has placed the order/paid for the goods or the incorrect address details have been supplied.
Our furniture delivery driver/courier works alone and our standard delivery is to your door. We will be happy to extend our assistance to enable you to place your furniture in a designated place in your house (if delivery is to a flat with no lift we will only deliver to the first floor) but we cannot be liable for any damage caused by this activity.
Large, bulky or assembled items such as tables, beds, wardrobes, sideboards, bookcases etc will require at least two people to carry and manoeuvre, please make sure you can assist, or provide assistance. If you foresee problems with this or any other aspect of the delivery please notify us immediately. A second delivery person can be laid on at extra cost for which we can provide a quote. Before delivery please note the dimension and size of the goods you have ordered and make sure it will fit in the designated room, through passages, doorways, stairwells, landings etc on the way through. We cannot accept responsibility for any furniture that will not fit where you want it.
Delivery to a work address can also be arranged but this must be specified at the time of order and be signed for by the purchaser. If you are unable to accept delivery on that date, please e-mail us 2 days before the delivery date, or extra delivery cost will be charged
Delivery Via Courier
When receiving furniture by courier, we are unable to guarantee a delivery time. Delivery will be between 8am - 5.30pm. All parcels that are received by courier must be checked for any damages before signing. If damage has occurred please sign “goods damaged”.
Shortage or Damage
All deliveries must be checked and counted upon delivery and checked against the delivery note. Any shortages, faults or damage to the packaging (scratches, tears, soiling etc) must be indicated on the delivery note, and/or reported immediately to The Furniture Discounter Ltd. All deliveries must be opened and checked for damages/faults and missing parts and any claim in respect of the above should be made by telephone or e-mail to The Furniture Discounter Ltd within 72 hours of the delivery: tel: 0845 121 3159 or e-mail: damages@thefurniturediscounter.com. Goods delivered damaged or faulty will be replaced by The Furniture Discounter Ltd. Where goods are irreplaceable we will offer a repair, credit note, refund, or offer alternative goods to the customer. We will not be responsible for damage not reported. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Returns
When you purchase from a distance on-line or by e-mail (without having seen the goods at all) you have a statutory right to a 7 day 'cooling off' period from the delivery date when you can return the goods to us. You can return the goods to us and we will process a refund (excluding the delivery cost). The item must be returned to us safely within 7 days in the same condition as it was delivered to you i.e. in the original packaging, new, unused, unmarked etc. Any item showing signs of being assembled, damaged, wear & tear or mishandling will not be accepted by us. Alternatively, if you wish to have the return items collected by us we will be happy to provide a quote.. Please note: the cooling off return period does not apply to goods purchased via our shops or showrooms or after having viewed the goods already. Any cancellation of goods, after 7 Days of order will incur a 30% re stocking fee
No credit or refund will be given for any goods ordered in error by the customer. No credit or refund will be given for any goods showing signs of assembly or damaged due to incorrect handling or storage or due to any misuse by the customer.
Colour and Finish Variation
Every reasonable effort is made to ensure colour and finish consistency but our products are hand finished and fabric, leather and wood colours/stains and dyes vary among batches. Wood products will exhibit natural variation in colour and grain. We advise that you purchase different items from a range at the same time to ensure a good colour match.
The Indian, Mexican Ranges of furniture in particular have a rustic appearance and feel. They are manufactured using traditional hand skills and will contain blemishes such as small surface cracks, knots, splits and holes which will not affect the structural integrity of the furniture. These will usually be sanded, filled and stained for optimum visual effect. The simple quality of this solid furniture is reflected in the price.
